My Week with Sci-fi Films in 2018 - Day 2

Species 4: The Awakening (2007)

Miranda is highly educated and is a college professor who lives with her uncle, Tom. On a date the night before, something goes wrong. She is rushed to hospital with weird black markings through her veins. She convulses after a doctor has to do another x-ray - the x-ray is deemed to be a joke as it shows Miranda's skeletal frame to be non human.

In a Species-style flashback we learn that during the date Miranda is not human and has killed her date. After the flashback, Miranda changes and kills again. Her uncle takes her from the hospital, after Miranda changes back. They set off to Mexico, during which, Miranda learns that she is a hybrid alien/human experiment, her uncle isn't an uncle but one of the scientists and her life is a lie. Tom also realises that the other scientist is in Mexico and he can help fix Miranda's ilness.

Firstly, before we get into the film, what is it about horror sequels and the title "The Awakening"?? Anyway, not a bad sequel and it does kinda give off a vampire movie like vibe. But to be fair to the Species franchise, I can see why this appeals - you'll see what I mean when you see it.

Creepiest Moment: When Miranda (in Species form) creeps up on the unsuspecting doctor.
