Hell Comes To Frogtown (1988)

In a post-apocalyptic world, the few fertile men and women are treated as high priority for the future of the human race and Sam Hell (Roddy Piper) is one of them. He is captured by a government division called Med Techs to help populate the human race, starting with a group of females that have been captured by the amphibious mutants from Frogtown. To make sure he complies, a bomb is strapped to his crotch via a codpiece that will detonate if he escapes.

I've been trying to find this film for years. It was part of a video that had been recorded over with Robocop, so when Robocop finished I saw someone hanging off a canyon and something about a monster? It was a long time ago and I've been trying to work out what it was since then. It wasn't until a couple of years ago I saw a similar scene in a YouTube video (I can't remember which) that cued me into this film. It's not a bad film, a bit cheesy in some places and the monster effects are pretty good. Worth watching.

Coneheads (1993)

A man and wife team of aliens, Beldar and Prymaat, crash land into the Atlantic Ocean near Manhattan after being hit by fighter jets. They quickly integrate into human society and learn that they won't be rescued for many years. Prymaat is also pregnant. During their stay, they are being persued by INS agents after they try and take on fake IDs. Beldar and Prymaat do evade capture and try to live family life but how long before the INS agents catch up to them?

This is apparently based on an SNL (Saturday Night Live) sketch about aliens stranded on Earth. The comedy is pretty much what you would expect from the time period and although isn't at laugh out loud level (for me anyway), it is entertaining.
